My Flight Hammock is more versatile and suitable for:

  • Economy seats
  • Most Premium Economy seats
  • Most Extra Legroom seats
  • Bulkhead
  • Trains
  • Buses
  • Airport waiting lounges

Complies with International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines and accepted by over 60 airlines worldwide.

Weighs 670g

Having evolved from The Fly LegsUp, My Flight Hammock offers the same experience to passengers, and more! With its freestanding design, My Flight Hammock is more adaptable and can be used virtually anywhere

Fly LegsUp suitable for:

  • Economy seats

Accepted by Singapore Airlines (My Flight Hammock is accepted by over 60 airlines worldwide)

Weighs 500g

Fly LegsUp attaches to the drop-down tray table and therefore can only be used in normal Economy seats. Weighing 170g less than My Flight Hammock, Fly LegsUp continues to be a popular choice for Economy travellers all over the world which is why we continue to manufacture the original game-changer for traveller comfort

*Children using their hammock should always be supervised by an adult  and continue to wear a seat belt during the flight.

My Flight Hammock is the more versatile option as it is suitable for most seats on the plane (Economy, most Premium Economy, Bulkhead and Extra Legroom), as well as train and bus travel.

Fly LegsUp is only suitable for normal Economy seats, as it needs to attach to the drop down tray table.

We do recommend My Flight Hammock for taller men and women who want to make the most out of their extra legroom.

We are the first and only innovators to develop the in flight comfort aid alongside Aviation Engineers in accordance with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines.

My Flight Hammock is classed as a personal comfort device and is not usually subject to approval by FAA/EASA/CASA. However, due to high customer interest in improving in-flight comfort, IATA has provided guidelines to airlines regarding the use of these products. My Flight Hammock complies with IATA’s guidelines, which can be viewed here

We’re also a proud Australian family business, so when you purchase from us, you’re supporting small business.

What are the health benefits of Fly LegsUp and My Flight Hammock?

Health & wellness in the air is important. If you suffer from sleep deprivation, swelling, back pain on long flights or have a history of DVT, Fly LegsUp and My Flight Hammock has the potential to alleviate these issues.

By using Fly LegsUp or My Flight Hammock on long flights, it:

▪ May help reduce leg and foot swelling. Elevating your legs and feet increases venous return to the heart which helps to keep swelling to a minimum

▪ May help reduce the risk of DVT associated with long periods of inactivity. Being able to change the way you sit means you can be more active and less venous stasis may occur

▪ Helps to relieve back pain associated with sitting for long periods

▪ Allows you to sleep in more natural positions. Making the journey more enjoyable and reducing the effects of jet lag

▪ Allows children to relax and sleep, making for a more enjoyable flight for parents and other passengers too

What airlines can I use My Flight Hammock or Fly LegsUp on?

My Flight Hammock
Our list of approved airlines outlines family and comfort friendly airlines that accept passenger comfort aids. My Flight Hammock complies with International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines and accepted by over 60 airlines worldwide.
The use of comfort devices, such as My Flight Hammock, is ultimately at the discretion of the cabin crew on the day, and if they advise that the comfort device is not to be used, then these instructions must be followed.

You may like to contact your airline prior to your flight, however we do find that customers receive conflicting opinions from customer service reps, and their advice may have no bearing on whether or not you can use My Flight Hammock.

Fly LegsUp
Most airlines and cabin crew are more than happy for you and/or your child to use the Fly LegsUp and be comfortable. Use of our product is ultimately at the discretion of the cabin crew on the day and whilst we cannot guarantee you can use your hammock on every single flight, in our experience, it is very unusual to be told you cannot use Fly LegsUp. We have customers flying worldwide on major international airlines, some of which our customers refer to here

On some occasions, you may be questioned by a cabin crew member about Fly LegsUp. If you were to be questioned, please let them know the following:

- Fly LegsUp has been comprehensively tested by a authorised Aviation Engineer.

The Aviation Engineering Report is downloadable here and concludes: "The Fly LegsUp flight hammock poses NO STRUCTURAL RISK to the seat structure, metal table assembly, metal tray table arms (with table stowed or deployed) or the seat occupied by the passenger. As a carry-on comfort aid, the hammock poses NO RISK to cabin flammability, egress or cabin safety if its permitted use is as per standard cabin practices and REMOVED from the seat for taxi, take-off and landing” - Jason Hazell (ARN 765973).

- The hammock does not disturb the person in front or other passengers (some of our customers refer to this topic in their testimonials).

- The hammock does not damage the tray table (as per Aviation Engineer Report).

- Without the hammock, children tend to lie across parents laps and it can be impossible to continue to wear a seatbelt, but with the hammock they can easily wear a seatbelt.

- It is only used during the cruise portion of the flight and will be stowed away for taxi, take-off and landing.

If you were still asked to remove your Fly LegsUp by a cabin crew member, it would not be valid or correct that it was because of safety or egress according to our independent Aviation Engineering Report.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

Is My Flight Hammock or Fly LegsUp a safety hazard?

My Flight Hammock

My Flight Hammock does not compromise the user's safety or the safety of other passengers. It is a passenger comfort device and complies with the IATA Cabin Operations Safety Best Practices guide 4th edition 2018, and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) cabin safety guidelines.

It is only to be used during cruise flight and must be stowed away for taxi, take off and landing, like all other personal items. We recommend children and adults continue to wear their seatbelts whilst using My Flight Hammock.

It is only used during the cruise portion of the flight and will be stowed away for taxi, take-off and landing. We recommend children and adults using Fly LegsUp, continue to wear their seatbelts.

Does Fly LegsUp or My Flight Hammock interfere with the aircraft systems?

No! When Fly LegsUp and My Flight Hammock are in use, they allow all aircraft systems, and equipment, to be used as designed such as air conditioning vents, seat mechanisms and emergency equipment.

What if there is an emergency on the plane?

If an emergency is declared, the hammock must not be used. The hammock can be removed in seconds and the pillows deflate quickly, due to the design of the valve. You can even sit on the Large pillow to make it deflate faster, while you are deflating the Small pillow.

The soft fabric of the hammock allows you to tuck it into the magazine pouch. Alternatively you can stow the hammock and pillows under the seat in front of you.

Yes! We recommend children and adults continue to wear their seat belts when using My Flight Hammock or Fly LegsUp. If required, you can ask the cabin crew for an extension seat belt.

My Flight Hammock

We recommend booking a seat by the window or in the very middle section of the plane.

My Flight Hammock is suitable for all Economy seats on the plane and most Premium Economy seats, Extra Legroom, Bulkhead and train and bus travel.

Please note: some Premium Economy seats have a footrest which automatically lifts when you recline your seat, and in this circumstance you will not be able to use My Flight Hammock.

Fly LegsUp

Fly LegsUp is designed for normal Economy seats. You will need a seat in front of you as the hammock attaches to the arms of the drop down tray table.

We recommend using Fly LegsUp or My Flight Hammock by a window or the very middle seats between the aisles.

To check your airplane seating plan, head to SeatGuru.

Naturally, when the seat in front reclines, it can reduce the space available to you. However, it will not affect the use of My Flight Hammock or Fly LegsUp and will not prevent the person in front from reclining as usual.

We recommend using My Flight Hammock and Fly LegsUp in positions where you are not blocking the access for other passengers (ie sitting by the window or in the very middle section of the plane). In situations where this is not possible, you can wrap the My Flight Hammock tail over the pillows and frame and easily pick it up to allow your neighbour to pass.

If someone wants to get past your Fly LegsUp, take the Large pillow out leaving the Small one in the hammock, tuck the tail into the hammock and it will swing out of the way when someone passes. See our video, 'How to get past a Fly LegsUp Flight Hammock'.

When we were developing Fly LegsUp and My Flight Hammock, it was very important that they not disturb or annoy other passengers.

Due to the way airline seats are engineered and where the Fly LegsUp attaches, movement in the hammock is not felt by the passenger sitting in front. This topic is mentioned by some customers in their testimonials.

When My Flight Hammock is used responsibly and correctly it should not annoy the passenger in front and they will be able to recline their seat as usual.

The person in front should have no idea that the passenger behind them is using My Flight Hammock or Fly LegsUp.

The Fly LegsUp Flight Hammock has been comprehensively tested by a CASA accredited Aviation Engineer and will not damage the airline tray table. The tables are designed to be very strong.

The Aviation Engineering report concludes: "The Fly LegsUp flight hammock poses NO STRUCTURAL RISK to the seat structure, metal table assembly, metal tray table arms (with table stowed or deployed) or the seat occupied by the passenger. As a carry on comfort aid, the hammock poses NO RISK to cabin flammability, egress or cabin safety if its permitted use is as per standard cabin practices and REMOVED from the seat for taxi, take-off and landing" - Jason Hazell (ARN 765973). Download the full aviation engineering report here.

When should I attach the Fly LegsUp?

Attach your hammock to the tray table as soon as you reach cruising height, as it is much easier to attach BEFORE the person in front reclines their seat. Alternatively you can attach it before takeoff and tuck it away into the magazine pouch for takeoff and then inflate the pillows when you want to use the hammock.

Can any age use Fly LegsUp and My Flight Hammock?

Fly LegsUp and My Flight Hammock are suitable for babies through to adults.

We recommend that infants and children who are small enough to lie completely flat do not use My Flight Hammock in the bulk head section or where there is no chair directly in front of the hammock. Children using their hammock should be supervised by an adult at all times and continue to wear a seat belt during the flight.

To use Fly LegsUp or My Flight Hammock, you do require a certain level of flexibility to elevate your legs into the hammock.

How long does it take to set up and when is the best time to set up?

Once you have the hang of it, you can set up Fly LegsUp and My Flight Hammock within a minute or two.

We recommend setting up once in cruise mode or just after the cabin lights have been dimmed for rest.

How long does it take to inflate and deflate the pillows?

The Large and Small pillows take only a few puffs to inflate, with a two way valve that makes it easier and quicker to deflate/inflate.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The Fly LegsUp hammock is slipping down the arms of the tray table

Some airlines have tray arms with a very steep angle and the straps on Fly LegsUp may slide down. To compensate you can attach the straps to the horizontal bar that runs parallel behind the tray table as shown below. You may need to pull the tray towards you to expose the bar.

In this case you may have a faulty catch or some airlines have a system as shown below that may not take the weight of Fly LegsUp and adult legs with the tray table closed. You can use the hammock (albeit with less variety), with the table down in these circumstances. These catches will generally take the weight of small children, and they can use the Fly LegsUp hammock as normal.
